No task is so urgent that it can't be done safely. Your well-being is our top priority.

Empowering Every Individual

Every person has the power and responsibility to ensure their safety and the safety of those around them. Any individual that perceives a situation to be unsafe has the right to stop that task, reassess and ensure the situation is safe before proceeding.

Our Commitment to the Environment

DTA recognizes that the long-term sustainability of our business is dependent upon good stewardship in the protection of our environment. Since we opened in 1984, we have developed a system of environmental compliance procedures to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.

  • All incoming loaded railcars are sprayed with water as they pass under a spray bridge entering DTA property.
  • Water is applied to railcars during each tandem dump cycle located in an enclosed building.
  • Conveyors and transfer points either are enclosed or have water sprays.
  • Storage piles are truncated or flat topped to compact coal and reduce wind erosion.
  • An electronically controlled dust suppression system sprays storage piles based on current atmospheric conditions.
    • Each electronic dust suppression cycle applies a minimum of 35,500 gallons.
    • System uses predictive weather monitoring to forecast high winds and apply dust suppression prior to adverse weather conditions.
    • Additional cycles are applied manually as needed.
  • Water truck is available for additional dust suppression on roadways and storage areas when needed and is equipped with bumper sprays and a rear mounted turret water cannon.

We consider the control of coal contamination to be vital. Foreign materials are sifted from both the Stacker/Reclaimers and the Dumper where metal detectors and magnetic separators are used at key locations to reduce potential contaminants.

DTA is dedicated to protecting and preserving the environment by exceeding industry standards in dust mitigation and continually striving to improve all environmental mitigation efforts.
